I really like the laser, it does everything I need it to, battery life is good, the remote is an excellent touch, and it works well. The supplied brackets are quite wobbly and a little cheap feeling, for a pro product, as is the case that it all fits in, and yes, I know this is a fraction of the cost of other brands, which is why I have given it 4 stars. What I would like to see, is a pro product, with just the laser and one high quality, adjustable bracket. Nothing else, no glasses, no clamps that will never be used, and put the money saved into producing an awesome bracket/clamp (like Bosch do) that is as good quality as the laser. They could even sell the bracket separately!
The other thing that is a little annoying is the price charged in the UK vs the rest of the world. You can pick up the ZK04CG full kit on Aliexpress for £150 delivered. And, yes, we would have to pay VAT and import duty on that, in the UK, but it would still be £100 cheaper than buying at the full retail price on places like Amazon. Why does it have to be like that?
I also bought the matching outdoor receiver, the LR-8RG. It is pretty good, I tried it outside and it picked up the laser perfectly in moderate daylight, no direct sun. Build quality is fine, although the screen part is made from really soft plastic, so I don't see that lasting very long in a site environment. That said, we really need to keep in mind how much these things cost, in relation to the big brands, and that really is why Huepar are doing so well. People realise, they can pay over £1000 for a Milwaukee laser with brackets and a packout, but it does exactly the same thing as the Huepar, and the Huepar is less than £200.
I bought their extendable pole with tripod legs. I had seen some less than positive reviews about this style of pole, but I thought I would give it a go. I have to say that I am quite impressed, especially for the money. So there are a few sections of aluminium, painted yellow with cm and inches on, and no they don't line up properly as the YouTube reviews would have you believe, but who cares?
You can use the pole in a couple of different ways. Firstly, just as a floor to ceiling pole for inside areas, and then along with a supplied set of tripod legs, so you can use it outside, where there is no ceiling to push against. Used as just a pole, it is very sturdy and I could not find anything to complain about. When using the tripod legs, you need to make sure that you fully extend the telescopic legs, or the whole structure of the tripod will not be rigid. Once the legs are out, the frame pushes down and it all feels nice and sturdy. You can also adjust each leg individually for uneven surfaces. So, the build quality of the poles was pretty good, the tripod was pretty good, and the clamp is better (more sturdy) than the one that comes with the level. The only let down here, is the bag.
I did have to contact support with questions, and they respond quickly, so that is a big positive for Huepar.
So, yes, I do highly recommend the ZK04CG. If you can put up with the wobbly brackets, or better still, buy some better ones, you have a most excellent 4x360 laser that the big brands just can't compete with. Well done Huepar.
